Finding an Apple iPad review online is not exactly difficult.  In fact the iPad is easily one of the most sought after pieces of consumer electronics to hit the shelves in a decade, and as such there are a ton of reviews out there.  However, I wanted to give a quick and concise review from the perspective of the average user because I think that is sorely missing.  Plus, at the end of my review I’m going to let you in on a pretty amazing little secret that could get a new Apple iPad in your lap, even if you weren’t planning on buying one right away.

So let’s cut to the chase.  There are a ton of things we can talk about when it comes to the iPad, but I want to focus on the stuff people like you and I are interested in.  The fun factor, the convenience, the flexibility; these are what made me fall in love with this thing.

Apple iPad – The Review

First off, it is just so darn comfortable.  Holding it on your lap, using it on a table, and even using it on a plane all just fit.  It really feels effortless, for lack of a better word.  The screen is amazing.  It’s vibrant, deep, and responsive.  Whether reading e-mails, playing games, does starbucks take apple pay or watching a flick, the raves that the screen is best in class truly aren’t without merit.  Also, the iPad really does perform.  I never notice any lag or extensive wait times, in fact apps open pretty much right away, and scrolling through documents and pictures is seamless.

As far as software goes, everything works wonderfully.  From pop-overs to split screen to tap and hold, it is a snap to use right out of the box, even for Apple rookies.  In fact the virtual keyboard is nearly full size, making typing a breeze.  Some great apps to note are the iWorks suite, which makes this little kid don a suit and head to the office for an important meeting.  Whether working up a document or spreadsheets, iWorks gives the Apple iPad a whole new face not often thought of.  It is a serious piece of productivity software.  Also, for you bookworms out there, iBooks is going to be some major competition for Amazon’s Kindle.  It’s simple and makes reading an e-book completely effortless.  There are times I actually forget I’m not flipping real pages.

Finally, the last major testament to Apple is the battery life.  I often get 10 hours or so out of a charge.  This is with moderate to heavy use.  I read books, read and write e-mail, play games, browse the web, and watch movies, though not at the same time.

I do have one gripe, and that is that the headphone jack is on top.  So it can be a bit of an annoyance if you don’t have a long cable to drape under the backside of the unit.   Other than that, this thing is a real gem.  In fact I never intended to get one until one of my colleagues let me play with hers.  I became a loyal follower.

The Secret – Shhh!

Ok, so now that my Apple iPad review has concluded with an obvious two thumbs up, I’m going to fill you in on a little known secret.  We all know the iPad isn’t cheap, and despite its price tag, its flying off store shelves.  Well what if I told you that you could actually get a new Apple iPad for free?

That’s right, you can get a free Apple iPad, all you have to do is test it and fill out some surveys and such.  I know this sounds too good to be true, but trust me it is true.  See massive companies like Apple pay millions of dollars on market research, and one of their most tried and true methods is to have people like you and me test their products and provide valuable feedback.  We get an amazing product, free of charge, and they get valuable marketing information.  It really is that simple.
